دبي، الإمارات العربية المتحدة (CNN)-- قالت السفارة الأمريكية في القاهرة إنها "على علم بواقعة حدثت" بالقرب من مقرها بمنطقة جاردن سيتي بوسط العاصمة المصرية، الثلاثاء، مطالبة مواطنيها بـ"عدم القدوم إلى السفارة" و"توخي الحذر"، دون صدور أي بيان رسمي من قبل السلطات المصرية بشأن ماهية الواقعة، حتى وقت كتابة تلك السطور.

وفي سلسلة تغريدات نشرتها عبر حسابها على موقع "تويتر" بالإضافة إلى صفحتها على موقع "فيسبوك"، قالت السفارة الأمريكية التي يقع مقرها بالقرب من ميدان التحرير في القاهرة: "نحن على علم بواقعة حدثت في شارع سيمون بوليفار في القاهرة. يرجى تجنب المنطقة ومراقبة وسائل الإعلام المحلية للحصول على المستجدات".

وأضافت: "نحن على علم بالتقارير التي تفيد بأن المواصلات العامة بالقرب من المنطقة قد تعطلت بسبب الحادث. يرجى توخي الحذر"، مخاطبة رعاياها بقولها: "يجب على المواطنين الأمريكيين عدم القدوم إلى السفارة حاليا. يرجى إرسال بريد إلكتروني إلى ConsularCairoACS@state.gov في حالة وجود أي أسئلة".

كما طالبت مواطنيها بـ"التسجيل في برنامج (STEP) للحصول على المستجدات الأمنية في http://STEP.state.gov . للحصول على الرسائل القصيرة من السفارة عن طريق إرسال رقم هاتفك إلى CairoConsSMS@gmail.com".
