على الصعيد الآخر، ستتركز مهمة وزير الخارجية السعودي الجديد، إبراهيم العساف على إدارة وزارة الخارجية بكافة أعمالها وقيادة برامجها التطويرية، وفقا لتغريدة الوزارة ذاتها التي قالت فيها: "وزير الخارجية، ووزير الدولة للشؤون الخارجية عضو مجلس الوزراء يقودان دبلوماسيتنا.. المؤسسة العريقة تتطور، والحضور الدولي يتنامى".

ونقلت الخارجية السعودية تصريحات للجبير بعد صدور الأوامر الملكية، قال فيها: "الأوامر الملكية المباركة تعكس العزم المتجدد على مواصلة التحديثات واستمرارية التطوير لتحقق بلادنا رؤيتها الطموحة".
