(CNN)-- قال وزير الخارجية الأمريكي مايك بومبيو إن إيران هي "أصل التهديد الحالي" للأمريكيين في العراق.

وأضاف بومبيو، الأربعاء، أن طهران هي المسؤولة عن الهجمات الأخيرة على القنصلية الأمريكية في البصرة والهجمات على المنشآت الأمريكية في بغداد، وذلك في تصريحات أدلى بها إلى الصحفيين في وزارة الخارجية الأمريكية.

وكان بومبيو قد أمر مؤخرا بخروج موظفين أمريكيين من قنصلية البصرة في أعقاب الهجمات الصاروخية على مقرها.

كما أعلن بومبيو، الأربعاء، أن الولايات المتحدة انسحبت من معاهدة الصداقة والعلاقات الاقتصادية والحقوق القنصلية مع إيران الموقعة عام 1955.

على صعيد آخر، قال بومبيو إنه "سعيد للغاية" للسفر إلى كوريا الشمالية في وقت لاحق من هذا الأسبوع لعقد اجتماع مع الزعيم الكوري الشمالي كيم جونغ أون، مضيفا أن الاجتماع الذي سيعقد في 7 أكتوبر/ تشرين الأول الجاري سيوفر فرصة "لدفع" الالتزامات التي قطعها الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترامب وكيم على بعضهما البعض خلال قمة سنغافورة في 12 يونيو/ حزيران الماضي.

وتوقع بومبيو إحراز "تقدم أعمق" خلال الاجتماع بشأن ما يتعلق بإخلاء شبه الجزيرة الكورية من الأسلحة النووية.
