دبي، الإمارات العربية المتحدة (CNN)—أعلن مكتب التحقيقات الفيدرالي، أو ما يُعرف بـ"FBI"، عن اعتقال روجر ستون، المساعد والمقرب من الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترامب، وذلك من منزله في فلوريدا.

ستون ينتمي للحزب الجمهوري، ويعتبر أحد المؤثرين في جمع التأييد عبر مجموعات التأثير أو ما يُعرف بـ"اللوبي"، وشغل منصب مستشار للرئيس الأمريكي، دونالد ترامب خلال حملته الانتخابية في العام 2016، وينظر إليه كشخص مقرب للغاية من ترامب.

دعم ستون قرار الرئيس ترامب بإعفاء رئيس مكتب التحقيقات الفيدرالي السابق، جيمس كومي، وبرز اسمه في التحقيقات الجارية حول موضوع التدخلات الروسية المزعومة وتأثيرها على الانتخابات الأمريكية 2016.

ينظر لستون على أنه قد يكون حلقة الوصل بين ترامب ووثائق سربت ونشرها موقع ويكيليكس، حيث اتهمته حملة هيلاري كلينتون بأنه كان على علم مسبق بنية ويكيليكس نشر رسائل إلكترونية من بريد جون بوديستا، رئيس الحملة.

وكرر ستون نفيه لأي صلة تربطه بروسيا ووصف التحقيقات التي يجريها مكتب التحقيقات الفيدرالي بأنها عمليات "صيد ساحرات".
