التحالف في اليمن يعلن وقفا شاملا لإطلاق النار لمدة أسبوعين لمواجهة تبعات كورونا

دبي، الإمارات العربية المتحدة (CNN)-- أعلنت قيادة قوات التحالف في اليمن وقف إطلاق نار شامل في البلاد، يسري لأسبوعين بداية من الخميس، وهي فترة قابلة للتمديد.

وقال المتحدث الرسمي باسم التحالف، العقيد تركي المالكي، في بيان، إن الإعلان يأتي تماشيًا مع إعلان قيادة التحالف السابق في 25 مارس أذار بتأييد ودعم قرارات الحكومة اليمنية في قبولها لدعوة الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة بوقف إطلاق النار، لمواجهة تبعات انتشار فيروس كورونا المستجد (كوفيد-19).

وأشار المالكي إلى أن وقف إطلاق النار جاء أيضًا استجابة لدعوة المبعوث الأممي إلى اليمن، مارتن غريفيث، لوقف إطلاق النار وخفض التصعيد، واتخاذ خطوات عملية لبناء الثقة بين الطرفين في الجانب الإنساني والاقتصادي.

وأضاف المالكي أن التحالف لديه "جدية ورغبة" في تهيئة الظروف المناسبة لعقد وإنجاح جهود المبعوث الأممي في التخفيف من معاناة الشعب اليمني والعمل على مواجهة جائحة كورونا ومنعه من الانتشار.

وأكد المتحدث باسم التحالف إن فترة وقف إطلاق النار "قابلة للتمديد" للمساعدة في عقد اجتماع بين حكومة الرئيس عبدربه منصور والحوثيين، وفريق عسكري من التحالف تحت إشراف المبعوث الأممي.

وقال العقيد تركي المالكي إن التحالف يرى "الفرصة مهيأة لتضافر كافة الجهود للتوصل إلى وقف شامل ودائم لإطلاق النار في اليمن"، تمهيدًا لحل سياسي شامل وعادل.
