دبي، الإمارات العربية المتحدة (CNN)-- ارتفع إجمالي الإنفاق العسكري العالمي إلى 1739 مليار دولار في عام 2017، بزيادة هامشية بلغت نسبتها 1.1 في المائة منذ عام 2016، وذلك وفقاً لأرقام جديدة من معهد ستوكهولم الدولي لبحوث السلام (SIPRI).

الإنفاق العسكري الصيني عاود الارتفاع في عام 2017، ليستمر على نحو تصاعدي لأكثر من عقدين. أما بالنسبة للإنفاق العسكري الروسي فقد انخفض لأول مرة منذ عام 1998، في حين ظل الإنفاق الأمريكي ثابتاً للسنة الثانية على التوالي.

في الشرق الأوسط، ارتفع الإنفاق العسكري بنسبة 6.2 في المائة في عام 2017. إذ حققت السعودية ارتفاعا بنسبة 9.2 في المائة في عام 2017 بعد الانخفاض في عام 2016. وبإنفاق وصل إلى 69.4 مليار دولار، تصدرت السعودية المركز الثالث كأعلى إنفاق عسكري في العالم في عام 2017، وسجلت إيران زيادة بنسبة 19 في المائة والعراق 22 في المائة في الإنفاق العسكري لعام 2017.

وقال بيتر وايزمان، الباحث في معهد ستوكهولم، إنه "على الرغم من انخفاض أسعار النفط، فإن النزاعات المسلحة والمنافسات في جميع أنحاء الشرق الأوسط تدفع الزيادة في الإنفاق العسكري في المنطقة".
