(CNN)--  قال القيادي في حركة "حماس" أسامة حمدان إن الحركة قامت ببناء أنفاقها لـ"مقاومة المحاولات المحتملة لضخ المياه إليها".

وأضاف حمدان، خلال مؤتمر صحفي في بيروت، الخميس، ردا على تقارير عن احتمال إغراق القوات الإسرائيلية للأنفاق داخل غزة: "تم بناء الأنفاق من قبل مهندسين مدربين ومتعلمين جيدًا، وقد أخذوا في الاعتبار جميع الهجمات المحتملة، بما في ذلك ضخ المياه".

وتابع: "الأنفاق جزء لا يتجزأ من المقاومة، وقد تم أخذ جميع الهجمات المحتملة بعين الاعتبار".

وكانت إسرائيل أبلغت الولايات المتحدة بأنها بدأت "اختبارات دقيقة" لإغراق بعض الأنفاق بمياه البحر "على نطاق محدود" لتقييم ما إذا كان من الممكن توسيع نطاق العملية لتدمير شبكة الأنفاق على نطاق أوسع.

وأكد المسؤولون الإسرائيليون لنظرائهم الأمريكيين أنهم يفعلون ذلك فقط في الأنفاق حيث لا يعتقدون أن هناك رهائن محتجزين.

وبشكل منفصل، تناول حمدان مسألة احتمال إجراء محادثات جديدة تهدف إلى إطلاق سراح المزيد من الرهائن المحتجزين داخل غزة، وقال: "لن تكون هناك مفاوضات ولا عودة للأسرى إلا بعد الوقف الكامل للعدوان على غزة والاستجابة لمطالب المقاومة".
